NEEDLEWORK WORKSHOP Women have entertained themselves with different forms of handwork for generations. You will see beautiful personalized cross-stitch samplers in old homes or museums. Have you thought of designing your own? In Norway the women traditionally used white thread and white fabric to decorate clothing and linen with Hardanger embroidery. It looks complicated, yet it’s simple stitches can be mastered by anyone who likes working with their hands. In the nineteenth century punched paper embroidery was fashionable where Christian values or scriptural thoughts were printed on perforated paper and then embroidered. The graceful rings and loops of tatting makes beautiful lace by knotting thread using a shuttle or needle. What about filet crochet? It’s up to you to choose.
