JAPANESE CUISINE New! In this introductory class, we’ll focus on sushi. There are many styles of presentations and we will be making vegetarian versions. We’ll use a “makisu” or bamboo rolling mat, to create our “maki-sushi” cylindrical rolls. Traditionally, nori is used to wrap the rice and other ingredients. And, of course, we will lunch on our creations! MaryAnn is back again sharing her enthusiasm for the aesthetic and philosophy inherent in the Japanese culture. Her previous classes in Kanji character writing and Zen Attitude received rave reviews. After spending time in Japan studying under the Japan Memorial Scholarship program, she has spread her learning and respect for the Japanese reverence for simplicity and appreciation for the beauty of detail. She maintains a studio on the Cape Neddick river where she teaches Art classes and Wellness practices. This class is limited to 8 students. Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov. 15 2 sessions, 10 am-Noon Instructor: MaryAnn Fleming Cost: $40 (Incl. materials) |
