York Adult EdHATHA YOGA
Hatha Yoga is the basic foundation for all styles of Yoga. Learn how to bring yoga body awareness into all of your life by learning the simple postures that will open you physically, mentally and spiritually. Janet Clark is a certified Hatha, Prenatal and Restorative Yoga instructor. She is also a Licensed Massage Therapist, Thai Yoga Therapist, Reiki Master and Cranio Sacral Therapist who has a private practice. Yoga, meditation and bodywork have been a part of her life for over 33 years. Bring to class a Yoga sticky mat and blanket. These classes are limited to 10 students, so please register early! A second session will be offered based on interest.

If you would like to strengthen your core wtih Pilates and enjoy the grace and flow of Kripalu yoga sequences, this class is for you! Please bring a yoga mat and small pillow to the first class. Deborah Levine, M.Ed. is both Kripalu Yoga and Adaptive Yoga certified with over 15 years of experience. Deborah returns to York Adult Education with this energizing multi-level class. Both beginners and experienced students are welcome. We will offer a second session of Yoga Core this fall, if there is enough interest.

PAST LIFE REGRESSION

Anita is a Certified Hypnotherapist who earned her certification through the National Guild of Hypnotists (NG). HANDS ON YOGA (with a partner) New!
Learn how to assist your partner in Yoga poses. Find the appropriate pressure and movements to help your partner achieve increased flexibility and a deep relaxation. Then reverse roles and receive this same wonderful treatment for yourself. Your partner should be someone you are comfortable touching and being touched by. Mary Burke is a graduate of the Nosara Yoga Institute. She has practiced Yoga for 12 years and has been teaching for the past two years. She is also a Pranassage Practitioner, which is a unique blend of Yoga and Massage in a one on one setting.

FALUN GONG: Cultivation for Body, Mind and Spirit
Falun Gong (also known as Falun Dafa) is an ancient, advanced cultivation system of spiritual refinement and practice. Based on the essential nature of the universe (Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance) Falun Gong cultivates mind, body and spirit. It has five simple, but powerful exercises including meditation. In this two-hour class, students will learn how to assimilate themselves into the universe, be a better person, increase their energy and improve their health. Falun Gong is not a religion. Basic Weight Training for Women
Location: York Fitness Center, Rte 1
Have you ever joined a gym and not gone because you didn’t know what to do? Or heard that all women need to strength train to prevent osteoporosis, or building muscle helps to maintain metabolism. Join Heidi Oliver, ACSM certified Health/Fitness Instructor for this fun, instructional course for beginners. Learn the basics of how to lift, what to lift, and when to lift. We’ll cover technique of how to use machines and free weights with an emphasis on prevention of osteoporosis, muscular strength, and toning. You will leave the class with your own personalized workout program, as well as the confidence to work out in a gym (you may even meet a workout buddy). Limit 8 per class. Participants should bring a clip board to class.

FREE WEIGHTS FOR WOMEN

Do you have dumbbells at home or want to work out at the gym but you don't know how? Join Heidi Oliver, ACSM certified Health/Fitness Instructor for this fun, instructional course. We will focus on techniques for free weight and dumbbell lifts. Each class will consist of instructional time, as well as ample time to practice what you have learned. At the end of 4 classes you will have your own weight training program set up, plus know how to lift correctly and safely. This class is for all levels of exercisers. Limit 8 per class. BEGINNING TAP

Tap dancing comes to us from our Irish friends and from the streets of Harlem. Come and explore this great American Dance with its rich rhythms and unique styles. Anyone can be a hoofer if the desire to tap their toes is there. Lew-Ann offers a basic introduction to all who Gotta Dance. So get out your Tap Shoes and let’s dance. (Tap shoes recommended.)

INTERMEDIATE TAP

Intermediate tap is for those students with previous tap dance experience. We will be exploring at a more complex level of toe tapping fun. Music varies from favorites from the Twenty’s, Thirty’s, Forty’s to those right off the top charts of today. This is a great workout from head to toe, tapping your way to a happier you. Tap shoes recommended.

BELLY DANCING - Beginner
Location: York Beach Fire Station
Be a Diva! Belly Dancing is a great way to get a cardio workout while moving to the beautiful mysterious melodies from the Old World. Oriental Dance, Middle Eastern Dance, the dance of a Gypsy by the fire, tossing her hair and swaying her hips: It is an irresistible form of expression. “ O body swayed to music, O brightening glance, How can we know the dancer from the dance?" ~ William Butler Yeats. For centuries, this folk dance has been danced at joyous occasions such as weddings, the birth of a child, community festivals, and other events that bring people together to party. Now every woman can explore her goddess within and become a diva.

Lew-Ann has taught classes in Tap, Jazz and Ballet in the New England area for over twenty years. She has worked as a guest artist in NYC and in recent years in Costa Rica. Her Students have ranged from 3-80. She has choreographed dozens of musicals and owned her own theatre company for ten years. She taught Musical Theatre Dance at USM and has recently rekindled art of Belly Dancing. Her classes are fun and full of enthusiasm for movement.

INTRODUCTION TO SPIRITUAL ENERGIES
This class will help you to understand what Spiritual energies are and how they can positively or negatively affect our lives. You’ll learn the basics of what chakras are as well as your aura and how they are affected by our thoughts and feelings. Along with some resources to better understand the energies you were born with. Learn how to change your thought processes to achieve the life you dream of while moving forward on your Spiritual path. Recommended before taking Reiki I.

MEDITATION 101
This class will discuss what meditation is and the purpose of meditation and its challenges a well as its benefits. How to deepen your connection with the Creator or God through medication. REIKI I
Reiki is a laying-on of hands healing technique thought to be thousands of years old. It is a very simple yet powerful healing art that can be used on yourself as well as others and can easily be learned by everyone. Reiki is a sacred healing force that nourishes, harmonizes, balances and empowers every aspect of life - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is used to support the healing process of almost any illness, induce relaxation, reduce stress and increase general wellness. During the class you will learn the history of Reiki, the ideals and principles, the different levels and benefits of Reiki. You will learn about clearing and protecting yourself, and practice doing Reiki on yourself or others after you receive your attunement. The class will end with a guided meditation.

REIKI II New!
At this level you will learn the seven major chakras, the three Reiki healing symbols and their definitions. Receive your Reiki level II attunement.
